As part of our Media Relations team this role supports all aspects of communications connected to our customer fulfilment (e.g. Logistics, Payments, Outlets). In your role you will report to the Media Relations Director and work closely with our Logistics, Payments, Outlets, Public Affairs, Internal Communications and Media Relations teams. The convenience proposition is central to our customers and therefore a pillar of our group strategy. You will lead a team of 3 skilled and experienced managers. You enable collaboration with senior business leaders across the entire company to develop and implement media campaigns and strategies, to proactively position Zalando’s convenience and logistics topics, and reinforce our reputation on good working conditions, sustainability and social responsibility matters.

  • You help to translate our convenience propositions into snackable compelling stories that feed into our corporate media strategy and resonate with relevant media.
  • You act as a trusted communications adviser partnering primarily with the Logistics, Payments, and Outlets senior leaders and work closely together with multiple business departments involved in Zalando’s customer-centric targets.
  • You create and implement the Corporate Communications Convenience strategy including an execution plan for all communications channels.
  • You steer multiple projects simultaneously with excellent stakeholder management and operate in ambiguity to deliver targets if frameworks change.
  • You are driven and motivate the team to try new ideas, fresh formats and handle sensitive topics confidently.
  • You help identify opportunities in corporate media to place stories in the news and/or mitigate potential negative stories.
  • You support the team in managing relationships with key media organisations and a strong network of press contacts, opinion leaders and logistics and retail media stakeholders.
  • You lead a team of three functional experts.
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English language skills, another language is highly appreciated as well.
  • Experience in leading people, capable of bringing people along on the strategic journey, interested in developing individual team members.
  • Excellent analytical skills, creative thinking and strengths in execution.
  • Proven track record working on crisis or change topics (ideally in the field of logistics, retail or e-commerce) in a corporate environment, passion for innovation and e-commerce as well as a strong sense of ownership, responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Highly strategic with deep expertise in reaching and engaging specific user/audience segments.
  • Confident in managing cross-functional processes and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly effective oral and interpersonal communication skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively interact at highest corporate and media levels.
